THE BENEFITS
- Deferred Compensation – Eligible to participate in the County’s 401(k) Shared Savings Plan and/or the Section 457 Plan. The position is eligible for up to a 3% match on your 401(k) contributions.
- Health Plans – Medical, Dental, and Vision Plans for you and your dependents. You are afforded a flexible credit allowance of up to $25,558 annually.
- Flexible Spending Accounts – Employees may also participate in the Flexible Spending Accounts which increase their spending power by reimbursing them with pre-tax dollars for IRS-approved dependent care and health care expenses.
- Pension Plan – Both the County and you contribute to the County’s Retirement Plan and to Social Security. If you are eligible, you may establish reciprocity with other public retirement systems, such as CalPERS.

- Professional Memberships – Incumbents are also entitled to County-paid memberships in professional organizations related to their position up to $750 per fiscal year.

The Primary Care Clinic Physician is an At-Will classification.
THE POSITION: The Health Care Agency – Ambulatory Care department is hiring a Board Certified Family Practice or Internal Medicine Physician who is Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obesity Medicine. This position offers a unique opportunity to integrate primary care with specialized bariatric services, enabling you to make a significant impact on the health of patients affected by obesity. In this role, you will dedicate time to providing specialized obesity management while also delivering comprehensive primary care to underserved populations.
The ideal candidate has substantial physician experience, understands the complexities of obesity management and its associated comorbidities, including heart disease, and is dedicated to improving the health of patients who often face multiple health challenges. They possess a growth mindset, actively seeking opportunities for learning and development, whether through continuing education, professional associations, or engaging with current literature and podcasts related to obesity management.
This candidate demonstrates a strong commitment to addressing social determinants of health, recognizing how they influence patient outcomes. They maintain meticulous documentation and tracking of medications, ensuring compliance with best practices and staying current with updates in the field. Their diverse background—encompassing clinical experience as well as other relevant roles—enables them to bring a multifaceted perspective to the team.

Requirements
These are entrance requirements to the recruitment process and assure neither continuance in the process nor invitation to an interview.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency program
- Degree in Medicine (either Doctor of medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy)
- At least 3 years of residency training
- Current state medical license and state DEA certificate
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to meet the VCMC Medical Staff Credentialing requirements as outlined in the Medical Staff Bylaws.
- Board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
- Board certified or Board eligible in Obesity Medicine (ABOM or equivalent)
HIGHLY DESIRED:
- Experience in managing obesity and related health conditions
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Combination of Primary Care and Obesity Medicine, with both full time and part time positions available
